Activities to Boost Your Virtual Classroom
Whether you are just getting back from spring break or are weeks into distance learning, online platforms prove to be a challenge for everyone. However, just because we cannot be physically near each other, does not mean that we have to forgo daily lessons and interactions. Experiential activities, even when facilitated virtually, can be a great way to forge support and stimulate growth in the classroom.
For one, activities can break up lectures. It is no surprise that students may start to drift off when they are sitting at home listening to an hour lecture. Activities keep students engaged. They challenge students to think for themselves and play an active role in their learning. It gives them a place to form their own thoughts.
Further, experiential activities can build comradery amongst your group. Something as simple as encouraging connection can be incredibly valuable in our current state where we lack in-person interactions. Taking the time to engage in virtual face-to-face interactions can serve incredible benefits for your class community.
Here are a few activities that can easily be facilitated online. Try them out with your group. Let us know how they go!
