In just a matter of two short weeks, my daily life has been turned upside down. The new normal was not something I could have prepared for. This was a difficult adjustment because I am someone who likes to have a plan! Though I first felt like I had no control over the situation, I soon realized that I actually have control over a lot of things. So, while we were talking about ways to help our community as a company, I decided I wanted to contribute by finding ways to help others take control of their own health and well-being.
It has been so fulfilling and exciting to create a wellness movement on our Leadership Inspirations social media, inspiring our audience to focus on at least one dimension of wellness a day! We are posting tips, info, reminders, and activities to help you take care of yourself – all centered around the Wellness Wheel, which is based on a model originally developed in 1976 by Bill Hetter, which includes the following eight dimensions:
Our first week of posts included an equipment-free at-home work out to practice physical wellness, book recommendations to stimulate intellectual growth, resume tips to encourage occupational wellness, and lots more!
By assessing the eight dimensions of wellness, you might notice that you intentionally practice some more than others. To gain a greater sense of awareness, rank which dimensions of wellness you most often prioritize. Once you have your list, we’d like to challenge you to spend some time focusing on the bottom of your list. What are three things you can do to support your health and well-being in these particular areas?
